Reformed Theology holds to the authority of the Scriptures, and based on that understanding, exalts God's sovereignty in creation, providence, and redemption. A description of God's plan for salvation for fallen man is summarized in the acrostic TULIP. Because of God's sovereignty over every area of life, Reformed Theologians have spoken to a wide range of issues which are otherwise often neglected.

A number of documents and confessional statements express a Reformed viewpoint. These include the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Heidelberg Catechism, and others. Theologians whose writing reflects a Reformed understanding include Herman Bavinck, Louis Berkhof, Loranine Boettner, John Calvin, Johnathan Edwards, John Gill, A. A. Hodge, Charles Hodge, Abraham Kuyper, J.I. Packer, Arthur Pink, Charles Spurgeon, and B.B. Warfield.

"We have said that Christianity comes to its fullest expression in the Reformed Faith. The great advantage of the Reformed Faith is that in the framework of the Five Points of Calvinism it sets forth clearly what the Bible teaches concerning the way of salvation. Only when these truths are seen as a unit an in relation to each other can one really understand or appreciate the Christian system in all of its strength and beauty...

...There are in reality only two types of religious thought. There is the religion of faith, and there is the religion of works. We believe that what has been known in Church History as Calvinism is the purest and most consistent embodiment of the religion of faith... In other words, we believe that Christianity comes to its fullest and purest expression in Reformed Faith."
